Creating a Strong Sense of Place

Design grounded in context
Every project exists within a particular architectural, cultural and environmental context. Responding to those conditions can give an interior a stronger identity and a more meaningful connection to its surroundings.
Rather than applying a predetermined style, the design can emerge from what is distinctive about the project itself.
Reading the context first
We look at the building, location, audience and existing architectural language before defining the interior response. This creates a foundation for decisions around form, colour, material and detailing.
Does every project need a different visual identity?
Each project should respond to its own context, even when it shares broader principles with other work.
How does location influence design?
Location can inform light, material choices, views, atmosphere and the way interior spaces connect to their surroundings.
