Designing Spaces for Wellbeing

STUDIO JOUNRNAL

Spaces that support how people feel

Interior environments can influence comfort, focus and a sense of ease. Natural light, acoustics, material texture and spatial proportions all contribute to the experience of wellbeing.

Designing with these factors in mind can create spaces that feel calm without becoming visually passive.

Creating calm through design

We consider sensory experience alongside functional planning. Light, colour, acoustics and tactile materials are coordinated to create environments that support comfort while maintaining a distinctive identity.

How can interiors support wellbeing?

Comfortable lighting, considered acoustics, intuitive planning and appropriate material choices can all improve the experience of a space.

Does a calm interior need to be minimal?

No. Calmness comes from coherence and balance rather than from removing character or detail.
